As a high school student, I entered a design competition through Nike and was selected as one of the top 4 out of over 22,000 submissions to advance to the final round. My brief was to design a signature shoe for professional skateboarder Paul Rodriguez. I was mentored by Nike designers and guided through the creative design process, from ideation to prototyping. I presented the final design to a panel of 12 Nike executives and designers at Nike World Headquarters, and won 1st Place in the Nike SB Category. This was my first experience in the world of footwear and product design, and ignited a passion within me from an early age.
